We're out of the ICU! Jaxon has been enjoying the last two nights on the Neuro floor with all the new nurses as well as my mom and dad, who got in town this week. His incision looks great. The surgeon has been in every day monitoring his progress and at this time thinks there's a very low chance of hydrocephalus. This is when the body doesn't absorb enough cerebral spinal fluid and is one of the very scary potential outcomes if this surgery, we seem to be past this hurdle at this time. There is a chance Jaxon can get this down the line, but post surgery, all looks great!
Jaxon is fighting some serious nausea the last two days and now only has his mom left to puke on. All grandparents and dad have been lucky recipients of Jaxon's vomit, we feel very loved. He also has been very congested since surgery and we were worried he was aspirating when eating. If this were the case, we would need to put him back on a feeding tube. We ruled this out this morning with a swallow study, just a little more than usual congestion post op.
At this point, Jax is sleeping better than mom and dad. We're going to be on the neuro floor until we can get a bed with in patient rehab. He's progressing well with the help of PT, OT and speech therapists who come to the room multiple times a day. The nursing and therapy teams continue to impress us.
Jaxon misses his sister, but was able to talk to her this morning (picture below.)
We're headed in the right direction, thanks for all the continued love and support!
Go Jaxon go! Keep up the hard work, everyone! So much love and prayers your way!! ❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️
Go Jaxon Go! So so happy to hear aspirating isn’t a concern. 8 days post op and already crushing it! Thinking about you guys constantly🤍
