Post Surgery Update

Jaxon was admitted for surgery on Wednesday at 5:45 am, surgery was completed at 10 pm, just over 16 hours in total. Surgery went well and Jaxon was transferred to the ICU late Wednesday night. On Thursday morning, Jaxon needed to be intubated for his post op MRI. This was a scary moment for us as he had some fluid in his lungs from being on his side for 16 hours during surgery. Intubation and anesthesia were rough, but the team did a good job managing his airway and successfully completed the post-op MRI.

We heard from the surgeon after he read his post-op MRI and the imaging couldn't have looked better. All facets of the operation, along with his anatomy look fantastic.

Jaxon woke up fully on Friday morning, greeting mom and dad with a big hug with his right arm. We're starting to see intermittent movement from his left arm and leg, which is extremely encrouaging. We sat him up with assistance, which took a lot of energy. He's now relaxing with mom and couldn't be more comfortable.

We're hoping to leave the ICU on Saturday night or Sunday morning. This will happen when neurosurgery is comfortable taking his drain from the incision out. From there we will be admitted to the epilepsy monitoring unit for a week or so, prior to being transferred to inpatient therapy. We'll be there for 4-6 weeks.

Thank you to all friends and family who have sent all the love and support, rooting for Jaxon!

He is an absolute fighter and we couldn't be happier to be on the road to recovery with him.
